GP moto 2008 – Simoncelli World Champion!
|
 |
Midac has won the 2008 Motorcycle Gran Prix alongside Team Gilera, as sponsors of the bike ridden by Marco Simoncelli, newly-crowned champion in the 250cc class. The company is proud to have supported the Italian values of a motorbike maker that has made international motorcycling history.
Midac S.p.A., after spending the whole season whizzing around a bike made by one of the most respected Italian motorcycle manufacturers, has won the high-speed challenge it embraced at the beginning of the season: the challenge of accompanying Gilera on the world’s racetracks and focusing with Marco Simoncelli on the goal of winning the Moto Gran Prix and thus helping to promote the Italian values of quality and innovation to the world. To prove this commitment to Italian values, not only the bikes but also the riders, mechanics and team sponsors were again this year one hundred percent Italian and everyone shared the desire to re-establish the “Made in Italy” label on a global level. And for the first time this season, Midac was right beside them.
“It is a great victory and a great vindication for us, confirming the ability of Italian values to be competitive and to win on a global level. Of course, commitment to Italian workmanship is a value we share with Gilera,” explains Filippo Girardi, CEO of Midac S.p.A, “because Midac believes that its products are capable of competing on the international market

MIDAC with GILERA: Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing Championships 2008
|
 |
MIDAC ON THE STARTING GRID WITH GILERA: A NEW CHALLENGE ON TWO WHEELS
Midac has chosen Gilera, in the year this famous “Two Ring” logo company celebrates one hundred years in the business, and will sponsor the motorbikes of Roberto Locatelli and Marco Simoncelli in the 250cc class in the Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing Championships 2008, supporting in this way, for the first time, all the Italian character and sentiment of a brand that has made history on the international motorcycling scene.
Midac SpA, an Italian company that produces a range of batteries and focused on the European markets, has decided to race along side with one of the most important national motorcycle companies sharing the same objective – promoting Italian quality and innovation on the world market. And to demonstrate this not only the bikes, but also the riders, mechanics and the Gilera sponsors this year are all exclusively Italian and are engaged in affirming Made in Italy at a world level.
“The Italian identity , the character is a shared value – “ explains Filippo Girardi Managing Director of Midac SpA – “ as Gilera, Midac believes that its products can conquer the international market and, in general, the enormous potential they have in expanding Italian excellence in Europe and across the globe. Grand Prix motorcycle racing is a sport in constant and substantial growth, a sport in which values as dynamism, fair play, sincerity and continuous motivation towards improvement make the difference and this is why Midac will be there”.
The decision to sponsor Gilera is at a precise moment in time for this Verona based enterprise that aims at rewarding its own effort by combining it with that of the Italian motorcycle company which has made a come back in the 250cc class after thirteen years of absence, doubling its commitment by presenting not just one team, but two for this class. At the Grand Prix Motorcycle racing Championship 2008 four bikes will be racing in this class and the riders are Roberto Locatelli and Marco Simoncelli for the Metis Gilera team and Manuel Poggiali and Fabrizio Lai that as of this year are racing again for this motorcycle company forming the Campetella Racing Team.
Two important teams, testimonials of the Piaggio Group’s commitment towards offering the market a prestigious display of sport motorcycling explained the Sport Team Manager of the Piaggio Group - Giampiero Sacchi - during his presentation at the Monza Racing Circuit on 11th February. Mr Sacchi, responsible for the racing teams for the Piaggio Group ,explained that amongst the various makes of motorbikes involved in racing at this level, “Gilera stands out for its elite position and its nobility in the sport of motorcycle racing. A brand that is going to lap the impressive achievement of 100 years in business as well as having collected awards at world level throughout the heroic years of motorcycle racing. But it also has, for the last seven years, been a constant presence in Grand Prix Racing and we – Mr Sacchi continues – are not hiding our ambitions and expectations: with four cutting edge riders the Gilera bikes are here to continue that tradition of victories.”
It is an impressive challenge for all the riders called to pursue the glorious tradition of this important Italian motorcycle company which throughout its racing history has had triumphant champions as Umberto Massetti, Libero Liberati, Geoff Duke and Manuel Poggiali. And as explained by Gigi Dall’Igna engineer and chief engineer for the Metic Gilera team a challenge to face with motorbikes and means which are technologically advanced and competitive, and as confirmed by Paolo Gagliardo, Manager of the Grand Unit Piaggio Vespa Gilera, a challenge prepared for by making innovative choices aimed at launching the Italian brand towards and into a new future.
Enormous satisfaction and enthusiasm from a team sponsored by Midac. For team captain, Roberto Locatelli, all the ingredients are there: a high-performing engine already tested last season, a team that has been working together for three years now and which has developed the right approach in terms of teamwork to face each situation, and the support given by Mr Sacchi, Piaggio and all the sponsors complete a team aimed at winning. “The objective - says the rider – is that of being placed in the first five positions. We all know that there can be difficulties and hindrances to overcome in racing and nothing’s automatic, I can’t wait to start and will do my best so that this company, which I’m proud to be with, achieves top results.”
Marco Simoncello goes further and explains: “The bike has improved since last year and I feel more comfortable with the frame. The team is the same as last season and I know I can count on them and concentrate on racing. Sure, not just the rider, but also the bike and the team need luck, and if we’ve got luck on our side I think that this season is the right one to bring home serious results.”
All we have to do now is race. The Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing Championships 2008 is ready for the go on 8th March in Qatar. Together with Gilera, Midac will be glistening on the motorbikes of the Metis Gilera team.

MIDAC OHSAS 18001: SAFETY ABOVE ALL
|
 |
On Tuesday 6 July at 3:30 PM, a conference on “Company Safety Management Systems” was held in Verona at the Conference Hall of the Verona Manufacturers’ Association.
The conference was opened by the Association’s Director, Dr. Angelo Nardi, who made reference to the structure and requisites of standard OHSAS 18001, emphasizing how the quality and environment control system was developed and describing the certification procedure.
Dr. Nico Mastrorillo, Director of Certification for Tüv Italia srl, then detailed all aspects of the standard, with specific reference to applicative methods.
With reference to application, Midac’s Dr. Stefano Bovo, Production Manager and Safety Dept. Representative, and Roberto Tonin, Director of the Management, Environment and Safety System, described the company’s recent OHSAS 18001 certification.
Dr. Bovo presented the company’s production process and its environmental, social, and economic context. Mr. Tonin then explained the company’s reasons for implementing the integrated management system, especially with regard to safety.
He described the steps involved in implementation, difficulties met, benefits, improved performance, involvement of staff, and cost containment considerations, all in an integrated view of forecasts and future returns.
Midac, one of the first companies to earn OHSAS 18001 certification, proudly showed how a company that is energetic and aware of external change can effectively participate in the local and international social, environmental and legislative context.
Standard OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) defines management system requisites, and is designed to help companies formulate goals and policies to promote worker health and safety in conformity to current regulations.

In order to answer the needs of a more and more demanding and growing market, MIDAC started the production of a wide range of technologically advanced motorcycle batteries, able to satisfy any kind of application.
2 lines of products will be offered:
SEALED BATTERIES (wet and dry charged) supplied with small bottles with electrolyte.
TRADITIONAL BATTERIES (low maintenance - dry charged)
The SEALED BATTERIES have a higher cold cranking amperage, if compared with the traditional batteries and they do not need any maintenance. They are manufactured according to a gas recombination technology with micro fibre glass separators (AGM), positive grid made of lead/calcium/tin alloy and negative grid made of lead/calcium alloy. They have a higher reliability and safety, they do not suffer any leakage of acid no matter the inclinations or positions where they are installed, not even in very severe inclinations, and they offer a maximum resistance to any severe vibration, thanks to the "COMPRESSIONE" (???) of the plates and to the use of micro fibre separators.
The self discharge is minimal thanks to the lead/calcium technology for which they can be stored upt o 12 months at an average temperature of 25 °C.
The TRADITIONAL batteries assure 100% coverage of any application, they are very powerful and reliable, and they achieve their best performance even in the most critical moments, satisfying the most demanding and careful customer.

HY-PER
|
 |
The new HY-PER series of high performance lead-calcium batteries is able to offer fail-safe starting under all conditions, maximum safety in use and most importantly will guarantee, 30% more pick-up in the starting phase compared to ordinary batteries, allowing immediate ignition even under the most difficult weather conditions.
Ideal therefore during the winter months, when low temperatures put vehicles to the test, as well as being essential for modern vehicles being fitted with more systems to increase comfort and safety, but which absorb greater quantities of energy that can only be guaranteed by high performance batteries like the new HY-PER from Midac.
Among the HY-PER strong points it should be noted that, with just 4 models (from 45Ah to 90Ah), it can cover as much as 80% of all vehicles on the road and the labels show all the cars it can be fitted to, all to the advantage of practical and simple application.
The new HY-PER therefore possesses a greater power reserve allowing the battery to tackle “extreme” situations and above all to satisfy the demands for energy made by equipment becoming ever more common and sophisticated such as electric window winders, automatic climatizers, car alarms, car Hi-Fi systems and satellite navigation systems, once restricted to an elite number of four-wheelers while today they are fitted to the majority of automobiles: from citycars to GT models.
Maintenance is made simple by the “magic eye”: a handy device for monitoring the battery charge status and the electrolyte level. By the different colours that the “eye” can take on, the car user can be kept informed to the level of battery charge and therefore act in advance to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Where's the party?!
|
 |
On Saturday, 14th December, at the Vicenza Exhibition Centre, the extraordinary Christmas Party, organised as usual by the Mastrotto Group and managed by the exceptional Nella, Bruno and Santo, was attended by about 800 guests.
The hall looked splendid with its party decorations, white tables, red candles on silver goblets and background music…a suggestive atmosphere that welcomed all the employees of Midac and the Mastrotto Group to which the Soave-based company belongs.
While diligent waiters rapidly glided between the tables, the guests were entertained by the nice presenter Paola, the magician Tony Binarelli who was … surprising as usual, the crystal-clear voice of Syria and, especially, the uncontainable liveliness and beauty of the “Marrons Glacées” dancers, who, in the more than consolidated Brazilian tradition, pushed the guests to try out “rhythmic” Latin American dancing.
The party then continued in the “disco area” where managers, workers and clerks danced to disco-music, salsa and samba until four o'clock in the morning.
It was a great party, accompanied by toasts and Christmas greetings: all in all, a great opportunity for having a good get together.
